Black Belt Bruh
Back in the day, my dad sent my brother, Charlson Gaines, and I to this martial arts
school called Master Wolf's Chinese Street Fighting. And it wasn't your typical
one-good-hit-and-quit type of class, either. Master Wolf taught us if you hit
someone hard enough to knock them down, continue to commence to the @sswhoppin'.
We wore all black, sparred several times a week and fought full contact, sometimes
with our shoes on. Some of us would get disqualified at tournaments because of our
Abu Ghraib style of fighting. Eventually, Master Wolf's was shutdown
My brother, though, continued his pursuit of darker belts, culminating with the black belt.
This is a photo of my dad, my bruh and me in Houston during one of my brother's
first martial arts tournaments. He practices and teaches a Korean form of martial arts
called Kuk Sool. I must say: we don't get into fist fights like we used to back in the day.
